Following the injury to my left hand ring finger, the return to performing and recording has been joyously prolific. Enough to merit a new releases page listing the 8 different audio and video supports coming out soon.
drone for lamonte young
Trio Namu 3 had two superb experiences in November, performing Joachim Raffel's structure Drone for
LaMonte Young in two widely different contexts. The 27th in the Unimusik series in Osnabrück with inspired student improvising orchestra. The 28th at the Tuchmachermuseum Bramsche with historical spinning and weaving machines operated by the museum's technicians. Magical!

namu 3
After 10 months of absence from performing following my accident, a lovely return to the stage this October, in the company of Joachim Raffel (percussion) and Willem Schultz (cello). From 20-24 October, a feverish period of collective creation, with a delightful concert, CD and DVD recording sessions (Jérémy Carpenet video artist, Roland Voglaire sound production). Right from our first improvised encounter as trio Namu 3 = Gibbs Raffel Schulz, it was clear that this new formation already possessed innate telepathic listening, an exceptionally rich and supple palette and a sense of adventure quite out of the ordinary.
instrumental aside
During these sessions, the Stein Schuddinck 8 string electro classical, radically transformed by Tao Guitars and Lab Audio, worked beautifully. Straightforward, intuitive, after several prototypes it is now a fully crystallised improviser's instrument! Photos will follow late November ...
tertulias ramirez
Last April, at the BIG Festival here in Brussels, I had the pleasure of discussing lutherie with Cristina Ramirez and her brother Enrique, who represent the 5th generation of the Ramirez family workshop. They later invited me to present a programme in their Tertulias (salon concert) series at the Ramirez workshop in Madrid. Date in 2013 to be announced.

8 strings
And with an extra string too ... in spite of the incapacitated finger, I have been able to put the down time to use reworking the Bach programme on the 8 string guitar. The results prove quite spectacular, the extra string bringing a palpable fluidity and freedom to the phrasing, bathing the music in a rich, supple array of colours.
cardiff
A high point of 2011 was a very gratifying series of dates in GB, culminating with a two day visit at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama Cardiff. A warmly received Bach recital in the Weston Gallery was followed the next day by a master class full of exchanges with the College's talented guitarists. All in the company of international concert artist John Mills who coordinates their guitar department.
